Actually, "he" *is* a third person pronoun, while "you" would be the second
person pronoun. Here are the definitions and examples given by Webster:
- first person: that form of a pronoun or verb which refers to the speaker
or speakers ["I," "me," "we," "us," etc. are in the first person.]
- second person: that form of a pronoun or verb which refers to the person
or persons spoken to ["You," "your," and "yours" are in the second person.]
- third person: that form of a pronoun or verb which refers to the person or
thing spoken of ["He," "him," "her," "it," "they," "them," etc. are in the
third person.]
Just FYI, "Glenn" and "Shuji" are proper nouns -- they're not pronouns, but
do however make reference to a third person entity. So they are valid to
use for Ti3P Day. One would not normally use proper nouns to make reference
to either a first person or second person party (except in the case of Ti3P
Day).
Which brings up the issue: For Ti3P Day, why are only the first person
pronouns replaced with the proper nouns and/or third person pronouns?
(Ti3P.com says: "you can't use I, me, we, or us.") Why not also replace
those second person pronouns with the proper nouns and/or third person
pronouns too? (i.e., also not being able to use "you" or "your" as well)
Just a thought... Maybe next year?
